Social studies test
Ask for special adaptations
The test can be adapted or arranged in various ways.
What are special adaptations?
Special adaptations can entail extra time, sitting alone whilst taking the test, or taking an oral version of the test.
Contact your test centre
If you require any special adaptations for conducting the test, you must contact your test center as soon as possible, but no later than three days after you registered for the test.
If your reading skills are poor, you can apply to take an oral version of the test. You do not need a medical recommendation in order to do this.
If you need an interpreter
You can request an interpreter for your test. The interpreter will translate the questions and the answer options available in the test.
If you need an interpreter, you must contact your test centre as soon as possible after registering for the test.
Adaptations that require documentation
- If you have a visual or hearing impairment, you need to apply to your test centre to take an adapted version of the test. This also applies if you are taking the test in sign language.
- If you have dyslexia, a speech impairment or are dealing with trauma, you may also be entitled to take an adapted version of the test.
You must contact your test centre as soon as possible, but no later than three days after you register for the test.
You will need to have a letter from a doctor, psychologist, the Educational and Psychological Counselling Service or a speech therapist, which you must attach to the application for special adaptations.
