HK-dir is preparing the transition to a new system for administering tests in Norwegian, social studies, and the Norwegian citizenship test. An important part of this work is ensuring that the personal data transferred to the new system is accurate and up to date. Norwegian language test A1-B2

The Norwegian language test is for those who are in Norwegian courses and others who want to demonstrate their proficiency in Norwegian. The test covers the levels from A1 (beginner level) to B2 (advanced level).

Q-mark approved

The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills is a member of ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe), a European association of language testing organizations.

All member organizations are required to undergo regular audits of their tests. These audits cover test development, administration and logistics, marking, analysis, communication, and ethics.

The Norwegian Language Test (A1–B2) underwent such audits in 2018 and 2023.

The Norwegian Language Test (C1 – Higher Academic Level) underwent an audit in 2026.

All Norwegian language tests administered by HK-dir have been awarded ALTE’s quality label, the Q-mark.
